| During construction of an aluminum mini-mill, loaded interior building columns began moving, threatening completion of the building. Further, a 50 feet deep pit excavation adjacent to the columns had not been completed. Emergency stabilization measures were designed to correct the column movements and allow the deep excavation to be made. A series of deadman anchors were installed to correct the column movements and tied-back and socketed retaining walls were installed to successfully complete the excavation. | ![]() ![]() |
