Past Medalists have included Herbert Hoover, Dwight Eisenhower, Jimmy Carter, David Packard (Hewlett-Packard), and Alfred Sloan (General Motors). |

| Mr. Thacker, a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and ASFE--The Best People on Earth, will receive the Medal for his community service engineering work to improve the quality of life in the Coal Creek watershed of Anderson County, Tennessee. | |

According to Thacker, “I
am humbled by this honor. Accepting this Medal illustrates that you don’t
have to be a Fortune 500 CEO or former U.S. President to use your
engineering skills to help your neighbors and be recognized for your
efforts. I hope it illustrates to the students in Coal Creek that they are
important and have the potential to do great things with their lives.”
